What to Expect During a Scleral Lens Fitting
A scleral lens fitting is more detailed than a traditional contact lens appointment.
Because these lenses are highly customized, careful measurements are required to achieve the best possible fit.
Step 1: Detailed Eye Measurements
The first step typically involves measuring the shape of the cornea using specialized imaging technology.
This helps determine the appropriate lens design.
Step 2: Diagnostic Lens Fitting
Trial lenses may be placed on the eye to evaluate how the lens fits and how well it improves vision.
Step 3: Custom Lens Design
Based on these measurements, custom lenses are manufactured specifically for the patient’s eyes.
Step 4: Follow-Up Visits
Several follow-up visits may be needed to fine-tune the fit and ensure the lenses are comfortable and performing well.
Although the process may take several visits, the result is a highly customized lens designed to provide clear and comfortable vision.
Northern optics is the only clinic in Northern Ontario that provides state of the art, corneal topography guided Scleral contact lens fittings.
